Anna Maria Balint – Vivid Objects / Riccardo Previdi – It's Just a Matter of Time

With the two solo exhibitions of Anna Maria Balint and Riccardo Previdi, two different artistic practices and different localizations encounter each other: Anna Maria Balint was born in Basel in 1992 and lives here; Riccardo Previdi, born in Milan in 1974, has his place of residence in Zurich and works internationally.
In her artistic practice, Anna Maria Balint examines everyday objects of use, things from the world of commodities, or architectural constructions. The artist analyzes these for their components, switching back and forth between micro and macro views. She translates the newly created forms into aquarelles and sculptures, which fan out in space as variations of similar forms and complement each other. In this way, her works often seem like building blocks of an individual formal language that constantly evokes new possibilities of memory between figuration and abstraction.
Riccardo Previdi focuses on the relationship between the human subject and technological, digital processes. He is interested in the moment of the takeover of the human being by technology. He tries to give a humanity and the dimension of individuality to smooth surfaces and industrial aesthetics. His methods between painting, sculpture, video and installations change depending on the exhibition project. In addition to a series of ceramic urns that he modeled as 3D prints after the shapes of pumpkins, Previdi presents the work Tubi, developed especially for Riehen, which literally pushes through the interstices of the architecture of Kunst Raum Riehen.
