Plant pictures of young people
In collaboration with K'Werk and Kunst Raum Riehen, children and young people are artistically exploring the theme of plants. The resulting works are part of the exhibition, which will be completed during the summer festival of the Fondation Beyeler and the municipality of Riehen and will remain open for a week afterwards.
Children and young people from the K'Werk Bildschule up to 16 are exhibiting works in Kunst Raum Riehen for the first time. For 13 years, the Bildschule has been offering young people aged 6 – 16 design lessons in various techniques and subject areas. Affiliated to the Basel School of Design since 2013, up to 550 children and young people now attend courses and workshops at the Bildschule.
Through cooperation, new forms of dialog are created. Children and young people from K'Werk courses and a workshop explored the theme of plants in a variety of ways for this exhibition at Kunst Raum Riehen. They used various materials to create their own alienated artificial plants and worked with materials from nature, recycled materials, fabric and wood, drew, painted and printed on various papers with acrylic, printing ink and graphite and exposed photographic paper to create photograms in the laboratory. Kunst Raum Riehen becomes an unconventionally designed greenhouse.
