The discipline of drawing is the starting point of the exhibition, which displays this medium in its expansion. Based on the cross-over of media in contemporary art, drawing is examined through the lens of various techniques: Classic drawing media are joined by painting, watercolor, sculpture, ceramics, light and video. There is a dissolution of the boundaries of drawing that no longer allows for classifications. The artists have appropriated drawing and thus the line, based on their methods and their personal focus. They also examine the archaic nature of this medium, which coincides with the beginnings of human cultural history, such as in carved symbols or cave paintings, and reveal the line as the recording of transient movements in time and space. Many of the works in the exhibition thus have an explorative character and reflect the importance of experimentation and individual engagement with materials, processes and ideas.
